In this post, we’ve featured 9 top auction companies in CT and have summarized their services. Continue reading to learn about them.
1. Antique Auction and Estate Sales
Antique Auction and Estate Sales is Bethel’s premier auction house. Though their specializations are somewhat unique, they offer a whole gamut of items and services to customers and clients alike. While Antique Auction’s bread and butter lies in estate sales and auctions, they also offer consignments for all automobiles and trains. Antique Auction and Estate is open from 9-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
As mentioned above, Antique Auction offers quite a few services. Antique Auction and Estate has you covered, whether you’re trying to downsize, wrap up an estate sale, or offload an entire train (or two, three – I don’t know how train sales work. These guys do.) Ultimately, the truth is that there is no similar service in Connecticut with such a stellar reputation.

2. Shannon’s Fine Art Auctioneers
Shannon’s Fine Art Auctioneers is a Milford legend, and for good reason. They’ve built a name as the best fine art auction house in the area through over twenty years in business. Shannon’s is a wonderful option with over 200 lots to display various pieces of stunning artwork and an excellent online auction service during the colder months. They’re open from 10-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
As expected, Shannon’s Fine Art has sold countless pieces of truly excellent work. Whether it’s nineteenth-century or contemporary doesn’t matter; they’ve sold drawn and painted work, sculptures, prints, and more – perhaps more importantly, Shannon’s boasts experts in several fields. From American impressionism and nineteenth-century European paintings to modern and contemporary work, there’s an expert for everyone.

3. Fairfield Auction
Our next entry, Fairfield Auction, is located in the heart of Monroe. What separates them from others on this list are the founders, Rosie and Jack DeStories. They boast decades of experience, national recognition, service to famous clients, and certification (in Jack’s case) as an expert in his field. Fairfield Auction is open from 10-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The items that Fairfield Auction has sold over the years are many, though there are a few standouts. They gained national attention for a Tiffany glass sale that fetched over a quarter of a million dollars, along with the sale of several celebrities’ homes and personal items. A peek at their portfolio of success will reveal dozens of pieces of art from various times and locations, fine jewelry and coins, and more. This all goes to say one thing; if you need truly professional auctioneering services, there are few better choices than Fairfield Auction.

4. 5th Avenue Auctions
Stamford’s Fifth Avenue Auctions is yet another exceptional auction house. They boast a team of top-notch appraisers, estate liquidators, and auctioneers, along with several somewhat unique services. Fifth Avenue Auctions is open from 10:30-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and closed on Sundays.
While regular appraisal and auctioneering services are available (both physically and online), Fifth Avenue offers something more. They partner with Greenwich Living Design to provide marketing, storage, and insurance on top-tier items selected for sale in retail for a higher value. This enables them to fetch higher prices than (standard) auction prices while helping remove clutter from your home, business, or storage unit.

5. Winter Associates
Winter Associates is the premier Plainville auction house and has represented a swathe of clients. Whether you’re a business, working professional, or private individual needing downsizing or auctioneering services, Winter Associates has proven over their nearly 45 years in business that they’re genuine professionals at all stages. Winter Associates is open from 9-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Their past auctions are as varied as their past clientele. From office furniture and jewelry to genuine museum items, they’ve sold just about anything you can name. Perhaps more importantly, each item has earned an excellent price. And when you really think about it, that’s the most important thing, right? Winter Associates is a superb choice to help offload everything from general personal items to original antique works of art – so give them a call!

6. Reminisce With Kelly
While each entry in this list has been a wonderful auction house in its own right, New Milford’s Reminisce With Kelly is something special. They offer a personal touch built over forty years, nearly half of which have been as a family business. Reminisce With Kelly is open from 8-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10-5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10-12 a.m. on Sundays.
Something we didn’t mention is the absolutely shocking scope of Reminisce With Kelly’s past clientele. Antiques are their primary specialty, though Reminisce has also handled estate sales, precious metal testing, item research, and far more. They’ve auctioned antiques (obviously) from America and Europe, furniture, jewelry, precious metals, Americana, and just about anything else you can imagine – within reason.

7. Antique Appraisers & Auctioneers (AAA)
Antique Appraisers & Auctioneers (AAA) is a multi-state auction house with locations in Greenwich (CT), as well as Florida, Arizona, and New Hampshire. They’ve been around since 1961, and over the years, it’s been passed down from father to son. The sheer excellence of all services on offer at AAA is simply stunning – so give them a call. AAA is open from 9-4 Monday-Friday.
Taking a peek at Antique Appraisers & Auctioneers’ gallery is enough to know they’re trustworthy. Past sales include antique jewelry, art, furniture, Chinese and French antiques, and many more items. There are few better auction houses to trust with your truly precious antiques than AAA.

8. Sales Auction Company
Windsor Locks is home to our next entry, Sales Auction Company. While a quick peek at their site will reveal a barebones experience, it is deceptive. Their simple web presence is undershot by over a decade of experience that’s backed with decisive, professional action rather than claims of excellence. Sales Auction Company is open from 8-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, from 9-12 p.m. on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays.
Sales Auction Company has auctioned quite a few items over their surprisingly short (compared to others in this list) time in the industry. Their most constructive (you’ll get that in a moment) items they’ve sold include industrial excavators and other machinery (there it is), along with farm equipment, tools, and shop items. In other words, they’re a dream come true for farmers, machinists, general contractors, and just about any other blue-collar professional you can imagine.

9. The Hilltop Gallery
The Hilltop Gallery is more than just an auction house. Located in Branford, they’re a full-service home for everything from auctions and consultation to appraisal and on-the-spot cash buyouts. Arguably more important, though, is their attitude; it’s sheer professionalism defined – even if it’s at the cost of business. The Hilltop Gallery is open from 11-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, 10-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, and closed Monday-Tuesday.
The Hilltop Gallery’s past sales are incredibly varied, as they’ve served clients all over the country. From Full estate sales in Madison and antique/folk art auctions in Branford to sales in Pennsylvania, New York, and Rhode Island, they’ve sold just about anything you can imagine in over 19 states. If you want the best service possible, go to Hilltop Gallery – and if they aren’t the best, they’ll send you to the specialist you deserve – guaranteed.
